Career Journey
Yvonne’s past life prior to becoming KCS’s “System Chauffeur” involved studying a degree in Business Systems and Technology Management and spending 6 years onboard a cruise ship as the Shop Manager. The experiences she gained from working on the cruise, dealing with people from all walks of life, her extensive IT background and her passion of always wanting to learn new things gave her a huge advantage when she started working as a virtual assistant before it became the trend. Through self-study, Yvonne was able to start out as a data encoder and worked her way up to become the Online Business Manager you know today.
In February 2016, she was at a point in her VA freelancing where she felt stuck and had a burning desire to explore other industries. Whilst her current clients were amazing Yvonne felt like she wasn’t growing and wanted to keep learning as much as possible. She explored alternative opportunities until she was pushed out of her comfort zone when she had her first interview with Krystle and KCS. KCS is all about being online and remote so the interview was held via video and even though Yvonne was pushed out of her comfort zone, Krystle made her feel at ease the entire time and now video has become Yvonne’s favourite mode of communication, imagine that!
Yvonne doesn’t feel like she is “working” for KCS, she says it feels more like helping a family member because of how much she enjoys their harmonious relationship. Krystle treats her people well and cares about their well-being in and out of the professional world. When Yvonne was on the verge of collapse due to overwhelm, Krystle was there to support her and she now feels 100% confident that she has a long term mentor backing her up no matter what the universe throws at her and her family.
Career Transformation
Here are Yvonne’s top 3 lessons that made a huge impact on the amazing individual she has become today;
- Don’t be afraid to try new things – If Yvonne listened to that tiny voice in her head when she was offered to work on a cruise ship, she wouldn’t have traveled the world, interacted with people from all walks of life and overcome her shyness. As an introvert, it was a very big achievement stepping out of her comfort zone to experience this and grow.
- Success comes to those who work hard and never give up – Yvonne wouldn’t have evolved into an Online Business Manager if she hadn’t invested time and money to learn new skills despite some of her life setbacks. Working hard always pays off.
- Manage your time and set a schedule – Be disciplined enough to stick to a schedule and routine that you can easily do every day. Being successful in a freelancing career requires strict time management.
Let’s Get Personal
Yvonne takes her professional value of “Always Learning & Growing” into her personal life through hiking and spelunking. With her diverse life experiences, she’s constantly improving her skills and moving forward. Exploring new heights (Mountains) and depths (Caves) provides endless amounts of self-love which she finds a necessity to help her build resilience, independence, and grit.
Yvonne’s Vision
Yvonne envisions having her own Virtual Assistant agency in partnership with KCS where they can continuously and consistently provide top-notch service to as many businesses as possible while living in the countryside with her family and a self-sustaining farm.
This will enable Yvonne and her family to stay grounded, and connected to the essence of the earth. To grow right alongside all the things that give her life and love.
